Collaboration Benefits Ryedale

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis we have seen incredible displays of community spirit as individuals and organisations have stepped in to meet needs and make a difference in their community. I am so pleased that the Foodbank has been able to join in partnership with other groups who are doing an amazing job in helping to feed people in Ryedale. From Community Kitchens in Malton, Pickering and Helmsley, Free Fridges and Ryedale Foodbank, collaboration has increased and is clearly meeting needs. I recently took part in a conference call hosted by Ryedale District Council which brought agencies and organisations together to discuss how we can do even better in assisting those in difficulty. I need to highlight the incredible work of Paddy Chandler, Stronger Communities Manager (Ryedale and North York Moors), Matthew Lishman (Ryedale District Council) and Claire Robinson (Community Support Organisation). Also two local Councillors, Steve Mason and Di Keal, Steve has been especially energetic driving across Ryedale to pick up donated foods and also delivering Morrisons food to us and a number of other organisations. It has been amazing to witness the spirit of cooperation and vision that is growing in our communities. We hear so much bad news these days, so it is good to be able to report some good news for a change!
